All of the staff at Bob Haynes Piano Moving hope everyone is having a great new year thus far. The weeks leading up to Christmas were very busy as expected, but we pulled together and got all of our customers moves completed.
We normally experience a dramatic slow-down beginning in January each year but this year has been a bit different. Our professional piano moving company has been steady since the start of 2016 with our local move demand, as well as concert and artist piano rental moves.
The coastal runs have been more frequent than previous piano moving trips in the past. I would attribute some of this extra activity to the very mild winter we have been experiencing so far here in the East. The other part I would contribute to word of mouth traveling around of the great customer service and relations associated with Bob Haynes Piano Moving.
Our next southern run is scheduled for mid to late February and is growing in size daily. We plan on hitting all the normal stops including Roanoke, Raleigh, Winston Salem, Charlotte, Atlanta, Savannah, Augusta, Columbia, nags head, outer banks, Wilmington, Tallahassee, Tampa, Clearwater, Naples, Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, Boca Raton, Boynton Beach, Palm Beach, Daytona, Orlando, Kissimmee, St. Augustine, and Jacksonville. We look forward to this run as it draws closer!

Our professional piano movers travel across the entire East Coast to pick up and deliver pianos and organs to our wonderful customers. If you need your piano moved from York, PA to Lancaster – no problem! How about Philadelphia to Miami, don’t’ sweat it. We will make sure your piano arrives safely.
Bob and the crew just returned from our latest piano moving run down south – all the way to sunny Florida. The crew left Sunday morning with a full truck of pianos all bound for delivery throughout the Southeastern US
Our first stop along the piano moving route was Charlottesville, Virginia for the delivery of a vertical piano we picked up in Philadelphia. Leaving Charlottesville, we were headed to Raleigh, North Carolina for two stops – one a console piano delivery from Lancaster and the other a delivery from State College, PA. From there we made a delivery of a baby grand piano to Harrisburg, North Carolina; a small town about an hour and a half southwest of Raleigh. We safely delivered a baby grand we picked up while traveling through Baltimore.
After the Harrisburg piano delivery, we were off to Columbia, South Carolina to drop off a baby grand we have had in our storage facility for almost three years! Our customer was excited to say the least to get her piano back after completing construction of their new home. Columbia is a large city in central South Carolina that spans about five exits on I-26 and takes about an hour to go from one side of the city to the other.
For some reason we had no stops in Georgia during this run, which is very rare. We normally have several stops in Atlanta, GA every piano-delivery run. We did stop in Georgia at exit 3 on I 95 to one of our favorite places to get BBQ for lunch. Turns out it’s also a favorite with the crew of Orange County Choppers on their way to Daytona for bike week!!
We finally arrived in Ormond Beach, FL for our first stop in the beautiful sunny state on Tuesday. We delivered a baby grand from Rockville Maryland. We plan to return to Ormond Beach for a pickup of an antique Steinway grand player piano that was a full restoration of a 1917 model. What a beautiful piano!
The next stop was Orlando to drop off a few furniture pieces to Bob’s Father-in-law. After leaving Orlando the guys were headed for Clearwater, FL for a delivery and a pickup of two baby grand pianos for Randy’s Wholesale Pianos. Randy has some of the best prices on high quality pianos in the South! You should check it out next time you are in Clearwater. Tell them Bob sent you!
Next up was a delivery of another grand piano to Cape Coral, Florida – a piano we picked up in Annapolis, Maryland. The gulf coast is one of Bob’s favorite part of Florida for its awesome fishing and laid back lifestyle within the surrounding beauty. And speaking of beautiful places, our next stop to Marco Island is the definition of sheer beauty! To our knowledge, this is the only place where “panther” traffic signs can be seen along the roads going through it!
Our Southern-most stop this run was Miami which took us a cross “Alligator Alley” from the Gulf Coast. Throughout this area alligators, snakes, turtles, and other wildlife can be seen from the road. Alligator Alley is on the northern tip of the Everglades National Forest. We delivered a baby grand piano to a very excited mother who had given up her piano to her daughter 17 years ago. Finally she had the piano back home. We then headed for Ft. Lauderdale to pick up a baby grand bound for Washington, D.C. After that we stopped in Palm Beach to get another baby grand that was destined for Potomac, Maryland. Palm Beach is nestled between the beach and intercostal giving a view of water on both sides. It’s white spectacular to see! Once finished there we were off to Orlando for a day of well-deserved rest and recuperation. There we learned the game of pickle ball, a popular local game that resembles tennis with a much larger ball and small solid rackets, and karaoke that evening.
The next morning we were back on the road headed to Daytona Beach to deliver a baby grand we had picked up for a retired couple back in Bel Air, Maryland. Upon leaving Daytona, we headed for Savannah, Georgia for an upright that will go to Philadelphia later this month. Next up was the long drive back North to Reston, Virginia to drop off one of the grand pianos from Florida. We hit Potomac and D.C. before finally returning back to York, PA. Another eventful run south completed! Pianos safe and secure.
Last week found us doing local piano moves and last minute moves before the holiday season arrives. We started the week in Hanover to pick up ten pianos for Menchey Music Service, delivering them to Carlisle and Reading, PA. In between we made stops in York, Harrisburg, Mechanicsburg, Lancaster, Quarryville, and Fawn Grove. Our piano delivery to Reading was a Yamaha Avant Grand, which is a relatively new model with curves on both sides. It was quite an experience taking the grand piano up a split level! That was a tough one but the piano move was a success! We finished up on Saturday with a piano delivery in Rockville, MD.
This week found us traveling around the local area again but with more piano moves in Northern, VA and D.C. The highlight of the week was delivering a piano to the Baltimore Ravens training facility in Owings Mills for a pep rally in anticipation of their first game of the season! The Ravens staff were very friendly with the crew and even gave shirts and hats to each crew member! We picked up the piano on Friday just after the rally and got to see some of the festivities – which was VERY COOL! .Menchey Music provided the Yamaha piano for the Ravens rally. We are definitely looking forward to the next one!
Next week will find us on the Eastern shore for some piano moves and maybe even a little fishing along the way!
We had our Southern run starting on the 28th of July, lasting through the 5th of August. Our first stops were Chesapeake Virginia and VA Beach to deliver four pianos for Jordan Kitts Music. We then headed to Wilmington, NC for two deliveries of a baby grand piano and a full grand. Wilmington is very beautiful and it was a pleasure traveling through. We then shot over to Atlanta for two more piano deliveries, then hit Tampa, Clearwater, and Sarasota, FL. We stopped for a quick break before continuing on to Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, Pompano Beach, Veto Beach, Port St. Lucie, and St. Augustine for both pickups and deliveries of various size pianos. You have to love traveling by the beaches in Florida! They have to be the most beautiful beaches in the country, especially in Miami, with such lush vegetation and array of colorful flowers scattered about. After leaving Florida we ventured off to Columbia, South Carolina located centrally in the state. Then we headed back to North Carolina to take care of our central and western stops in Raleigh, Carey, Winston Salem, Greensboro, and Asheville, North Carolina. The Blue Ridge Mountains are certainly breathtaking even though it makes for a slow go in the truck. We finally ended up in Blacksburg, VA to pick up a baby grand piano on its way to the northern part of the state. Then we returned back to the office. Wow, what a big trip! In all, we had 28 stops for one of the biggest Southern runs ever at Bob Haynes Piano Moving!
Last week found us back on local routes to the Baltimore, D.C., Northern VA, Harrisburg, Hanover, York, and the Lancaster, PA areas. One of the highlights took place at the Lancaster Bible College in Lancaster, PA. They have a Steinway D which is a 9 foot concert grand located in the chapel behind the stage area. It needed to be moved to a classroom upstairs. Naturally the piano is too large to fit in the elevator, so the stairs were the only path we could take. It took a crew of five very experienced piano movers to tackle the 26 stairs with two turns. It was a slow go and the piano barely had room to make the turns but two hours later we had the piano safely upstairs and set up, playing just like a Steinway D should. The staff were amazed after watching the process and very pleased they could make use of the piano where it was really needed. That’s a very satisfying feeling for us.
One of our favorite places to deliver pianos to is Lancaster, Pennsylvania! Known as Amish Country, Lancaster has some of the most beautiful farmland in the state. It’s easy to tell the Amish farms from the others by look for the green curtains, lack of modern tractors or machinery, and of course, the horse and buggy. We always find it interesting to see the many buggies traveling down the roads when driving in and around Lancaster.
Lancaster has grown by leaps and bounds in recent years with many modern, upscale developments being built. This is where we come in. Bob Haynes Piano Moving delivers a large quantity of pianos to Lancaster County and in the city.
Lancaster is rich with performing arts centers. One of our regular, and favorite stops is the Chameleon Club on Prince Street. It is a small-sized concert hall but is host to many high end performances from top bands in country music! Lancaster also hosts a program to benefit less fortunate kids who are interested in playing piano, but otherwise could not afford it.
Every year we take part in a Lancaster program called “Music for Everyone,” where donated pianos are taken to various schools and professional art studios to have an artist’s touch applied to them. The pianos are then taken to various street corner locations throughout the city where they can be played by anyone. At the end of the week they are auctioned off one by one. This event is covered by the local news and media and we look forward to it each year.
As you can see, Lancaster is rich in culture and diversity and ranks as one of our favorite destinations for piano moving.
Bob Haynes Piano Moving is the best choice for relocating your piano to or from Lancaster. Our professional piano movers take pride in making sure your piano is moved safely to its new home.
The piano moving season is here and all of a sudden there isn’t enough time in a day! This week’s schedule started with a visit to Hanover, PA, Mechanicsburg, then to Harrisburg to move a baby grand.
Next we travelled to Lewisberry, PA, moved a piano in Lancaster, then to York. We finally ended up in Shrewsbury to deliver an old-style upright piano up a flight of stairs. After a long Tuesday on the road, we rested to prepare for the busy day ahead.
Wednesday’s schedule took us to our first stop in West Chester, PA, then up to Doylestown, and on to Philadelphia for a grand piano delivery at the Ford Theatre! We didn’t have time to sight see because next we hit Wilmington, DE before ending up in Aberdeen, MD.
Thursday called for a run to New England. First up was Edison, NJ to move a baby grand piano. The next stop was Morristown, NJ, followed by New York City and Yonkers, NY. After leaving the state of New York, we ventured up to New Haven, CT before heading over to move a piano in Boston.
Today is Friday and it takes us back to Maryland, Washington D.C., and Northern Virginia. We will also be moving pianos in Towson, Baltimore, Annapolis, Rockville, Bethesda, and McLain, VA. Wow, what a busy week for our professional piano movers!
At Bob Haynes Piano Moving we take pride in safely moving your piano or organ to any location. Contact us today to schedule your next piano move!
